Moonen 124 opens a new historical stage in the history of the dutch shipbuilder
Moonen Shipyards has reached a new plateau in its quarter-century of building fine “pocket-size superyachts.” The shipyard has begun construction of its longest and largest-displacement yacht, the first 37.80-metre Moonen 124.

Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Holland, April 16th 2007. Today the keel was laid of the new schooner ATLANTIC at the Van der Graaf yard. Two keel sections have been built upside down and by turning them the official moment of the laying of the keel was constituted. Seven more sections are being constructed to complete this strikingly large and slender three masted yacht. By the end of the year the motorized vessel will be launched, after which fitting out and rigging is expected to take another two years.

Back in 1937 the original “Endeavour II” was built in steel at the Nicholson’s Yard and designed by Charles Nicholson. “Endeavour II” was built to battle the J’s in the America’s Cup Race that year, maximizing the waterline to 87ft she challenged “Ranger” but did not beat her. With the replicas of “Ranger” and “Endeavour II”, there will be a chance to race again.
