Saint Tropez, France – The Wally Class winner of the racing season is the boat with the best race results of the 2007 regattas. To be eligible for the Trophy, a Wally has to compete at least in three regattas in the course of the year.
The Wally Class 2007 winner is J One that also won in 2006.
To further reinforce the spirit of the Class to have the owners steering their boats, this year it is awarded also the best yacht driven by the owner: the Wally with the best results over the season with the owner steering the most of the races.
The 2007 winning owner is Mr. Claus-Peter Offen of Y3K.
During the cocktail hosted by Hublot at the Polo Club Saint Tropez, the owner of J One was awarded with the Wally Class 2006 Hublot Trophy: a unique piece 1/1 of the Hublot Big Bang watch.
The Wally Class Hublot Trophies 2007 included a special Big Bang steel watch for the winners of the 2007 regattas: the first yacht driven by the owner to win a race of each event that had the Wally division (Portofino, Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Voiles de Saint Tropez).
The winners are: Open Season in Portofino, Dark Shadow in Porto Cervo, and Tango in Saint Tropez.
A personalised and unique Big Bang clock was awarded to Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones and Captain Danny Gallichan, respectively owner and captain of Magic Carpet Squared, for the 10th anniversary of their Wally engagement: since1997, when Magic Carpet –now J One- was delivered, they both proudly and passionately sail their Wally.
