Saint Tropez – Two Wallys participated this year in the Giraglia Rolex Cup inshore races, Magic Carpet Squared and K2Wind, and both of them competed in the IRC Class with the super maxis like Alfa Romeo and the new Wild Oats XI.
The three days were characterised by light and unstable wind. Nevertheless, both Wallys had consistent performance and Magic Carpet Squared had a great second place Overall in the IRC class: she finished tied with the maxi racer Alfa Romeo that arrived first only because she won the last race of the regatta! Furthermore, Magic Carpet Squared defeated the other super maxi racer Wild Oats XI: a great result for a 94-foot fully equipped cruiser, launched in 2002. Congratulations to the crew and the owner who steered the yacht every day! By the way, in the Portofino Spring Regatta Magic Carpet Squared was also the second.
K2Wind placed fifth showing also a good speed and crew work, as it was the first time they were racing this 80 footer launched in 2000, that recently changed ownership.
Magic Carpet Squared left Saint Tropez for Palma de Mallorca, to take part in the Super Yacht Cup (June 16-19) while K2Wind is taking part to the offshore 243-mile race that starts June 13.
