SANTA MARIA – THE EVERLASTING BEAUTY!

Perini Navi Santa Maria is the second of the 56 metre series (the first born is Burrasca). Her aluminium hull is designed by Perini Navi Design Dept. (headed by Mr. Franco Romani) in collaboration with Ron Holland.

The over 58-metre main mast and the 48-metre mizzenmast tower over the surrounding marine world. They carry over 1,500 sq. metres of sails for a speed of 15 knots. That’s the performance that has swept Santa Maria to excel in regattas such as the Perini Navi Cup 2004. The sail plan’s control systems is based on 13 electronically controlled electric captive reel winches, custom-designed by the shipyard, which are the heart of the revolution initiated by Perini Navi. Yet it was the interior that deserved the prestigious Showboats International design award, last June.

Santa Maria is noteworthy due to its combination of technological details and classic interiors, possessing that look that does not easily go out of fashion, giving the Santa Maria lasting value. A salient feature is the partition into three levels, a solution made possible by the creation of ample superstructure, able to provide large living space.

The sleeping quarters are located in the lower deck, whilst the living quarters are on the main deck, and a furnished, protected flying bridge, with double sailing control panels are the directed consequences. The cockpit thus remains apparently free from technology (there is a hidden screen with cinema audio), to be used as exterior space for guests, be it whilst sailing, at a port or in an inlet.

The main hall possesses a precise, rigorous style. Natural lighting comes from the wide superstructure’s side windows. Antique paintings, cherry wood oil and light-coloured couches, giving life to pleasant contrasts, with skilfully laid out scenic openings toward other leisure areas: here the television set is lodged behind a sliding panel and the pleasant interior dining area could not be absent, to be alternated with the dining table placed astern, which offers unusual shades of blue for its stuffed chairs and on walls in a quiet, contemplative atmosphere. Those who wish to enjoy sailing in peace or simply desire a bit of solitude may take advantage of the ample stern area, made even more enjoyable due to the fact that the 21’ tender is out of sight, encased in its lodging.

Crew quarters are, as tradition commands, astern, and the large swimming platform obtained from broadside is among the most interesting solutions. Back to the sleeping areas, the owner’s suite consists of a roomy cabin with central bed, suffused lighting, reading lamps and chat area, and it is connected with a "his and hers" bathroom as well as with two wardrobe cabins. Light-coloured flooring and fine fabrics for bedclothes and cushions, wall coverings made of precious woods combine with paintings and a few well-chosen decorations.

The four guest cabins are identical and furnished with double or twin beds—the latter are also equipped with additional Pullman bunk beds. In addition to the guest cabin, there is the unusual presence of a roomy cabin for the nanny (on Burrasca it is replaced with a gymnasium), with its own bathroom.
