FEBRUARY 9-17, 2007 - MOSCOW BOAT SHOW

Today thousands of Russians have their own yachts, motor boats, inflatable boats and sailing yachts. A few years ago only the elite could afford to own a yacht, today even people with moderate means can afford to buy a small motor boat.

Demand and supply are interconnected. The yachting industry is quickly developing, new yachting events appear every year. In connection with the development of the infrastructure a special organization coordinating and supporting the yachting business was formed in Russia. This organization – the National Sea Industry Association - appeared only a few months ago but dozens of companies have already registered as its members. One of the aims of this organization is to keep the members of the industry posted on what is going on and to solve problems connected with specialized exhibitions.

The National Sea Industry Association together with the leading exhibition centre of the country “Krokus-Expo” proposed to organize a yachting exhibition project. This project made its debut in June 18, 2007 within the framework of the meeting of the Association in St. Petersburg.

The organizers of the Moscow Boat Show set their mind on improving informational support of the industry, attracting the key players of the market, backing up new businessmen.

The Moscow Boat Show is different from other yachting exhibitions in Russia. The international exhibition centre “Krokus-Expo” will provide all the conditions necessary for such a large event. “Krokus-Expo” is the only exhibition centre in Russia, corresponding to the European standards of volume, infrastructure and design. Today “Krokus-Expo” is one of the most modern exhibition centres which was confirmed in the Russian record book.

The total exhibition area of “Krokus-Expo” is about 550 000 sq.m., of which 394 000 sq.m. are occupied by the new third pavilion that was set in operation in august 2007. It is there, in the spacious halls, built according to the high technologies and with the use of ergonomic materials that Moscow Boat Show will be held.

More than 80 companies are expected to take part in the exhibition, the total area of which will be over 30 000 sq.m. In this way the area of this exhibition will be twice as large as the area of the other yacht exhibitions in Russia. Another important fact is that the organizers of the exhibition may extend the area up to 60 000 sq.m and in this case the exhibition may be compared to the international yachting exhibitions. The third pavilion of “Krokus-Expo” is suitable for demonstrating motor boats and yachts. Besides yachts, inflatables, rowing boats, navigational equipment, engines, mooring facilities, yacht-club equipment and also attendant services will be represented.

Moreover the organizers are trying to facilitate all the stages of the exhibitors’ work at the exhibition. Participation price is much lower this year and almost every company in the market can afford it. Besides “Krokus-Expo” can boast equipped conference halls and a large congress hall with 6000 seats for presentations, seminars and conferences. The exhibition will not be just simple product demonstration but a valuable complex business project.

The Moscow Boat Show will be held in the most optimal time for this market segment. The date was chosen on purpose. At the end of the winter the results of the exhibition will be used to correct plans of the companies. This period is more suitable as specialists have an opportunity to meet their colleagues in calmer atmosphere than in the height of the season. For such a long period professionals and amateurs from different parts of the country will be able to visit the exhibition.

The advantages of the new exhibition are not limited to it. The income brought by the exhibition will be used for the development of the industry.

Most key-players of the yachting industry have already responded to the undertakings of “Krokus-Expo”. Over 65% of the exhibition area is already reserved. Such well-known companies as Burevestnik Group, Bavaria Yachts, HT Marine, Admiral, Royal Marine, Alfa Yachts, Silver Boats, Boatmarket (Beneteau Yachts), Windjammer will be represented at the exhibition.

The Moscow Boat Show is held thanks to the joint operations of the industry representatives, non-profit-making organizations and the leading exhibition operator that is why the show promises to be quite successful.
