THINKING AHEAD WITH X-STREAM

Feadship clients are demanding and will be even more demanding in the future. More comfort, higher speed, less fuel consumption, more light, higher ceilings, more water sports, innovative technology and design. Thinking ahead, as usual, Studio De Voogt has combined these trends with the latest developments in hull design, propulsion, glass construction technology and aesthetics. The result is X-stream.

The maximum speed of X-stream is 30% above today’s norm to facilitate fast (overnight) transfers between places of interest. The hull form is therefore based on the enlarged ship and axe-bow concept (X-bow) recently developed in the Netherlands by Delft University of Technology. In addition to reduced resistance, this hull form provides less vertical motion in higher seas and substantial more comfort.

X-stream is provided with a hybrid propulsion package. Diesel-electric pod propulsion is used for dynamic positioning and low speeds. Apart from the excellent maneuvering and dynamic positioning performance, this type of propulsion ensures high levels of comfort (low noise and vibration levels) and favorable engine loads in all specific operating conditions. For high speeds, two diesel-direct driven contra-rotating booster propellers are engaged. In combination with the hull design this results in 20% fuel efficiency.

The main deck is entirely dedicated to guest quarters and social and recreational functions. The lowered aft part of the main deck offers spacious heights of 4 meters (13’) in the beach lounge and general private area. At the same time the low open beach deck close to the waterfront enhances the unique possibilities for water sport activities and sunbathing.

The separate owner’s deck ensures family privacy. The owner’s lounge opens up to a spacious private sundeck. The owner’s stateroom offers magnificent views over the forward horizon.

The form of the glass super structure is based on an innovative glass construction developed in the Netherlands by Delft University of Technology.

The unique boomerang design of the wheelhouse with its enclosed bridge wings allows for a panoramic vista fore and aft. This not only contributes to navigation safety but also offers owner and guests a place to share and enjoy the experience.
