“Maraya”, a splendid 54-metre mega-yacht, slid into the water on the 8th of September, with more than 1000 people in hand to watch the stirring ceremony held for the launching of the majestic steel and aluminium ship, hull number 121 of the CRN shipyard, an event opened, in keeping with the tradition, to the entire city of Ancona.

The launch occasioning this day of renewed celebration for the shipyard in the Marches Region came only four months after that of “Emerald Star”, a 43-metre mega-yacht placed in the water last May, providing further evidenced of the period of elevated growth in the production activities of Ancona’s hub of luxury shipbuilding. All the steel vessels scheduled for production through 2012 have already been sold, and there are currently no fewer than 23 pleasure vessels under construction at the shipyard.

Pride and thrills were the chief emotions at an event met with enthusiasm by the owner of the vessel, who hails from the Middle East and attended the launching together with his family and friends, as well as the entire staff of the CRN and the Ferretti Group. This exclusive setting only added to the emotional impact of the launching: a new production facility is being built inside the shipyard, measuring 95 metres in length and 25 in height, with a surface area of 2660 m2, and the 72-metre of “Clarena II”, the largest yacht in CRN history and one of the longest ever built in Italy, has already been positioned in this area.

The ceremony, which began with a march played by the Ancona Municipal Band, continued with words from CRN President Lamberto Tacoli. “I want to thank all the staff members who took part in this project – stressed Lamberto Tacoli – for their excellent teamwork, of which we are exceedingly proud. Starting tomorrow, “Maraya” will be afloat, as we move on to new challenges and new launchings. I also wish to thank the owner and his family, from the bottom of my heart, for having joined us in celebrating the birth of what will always be their ship, though we feel attached to it too”.

The ceremony culminated with the traditional breaking of the bottle, accompanied by the Italian National Anthem.

Next “Maraya” elegantly slipped into the water, to the stirring notes of “Nessun Dorma” from Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot, recorded by the late Luciano Pavarotti and accompanied by a burst of white confetti in the blue sky.

The spectacular event was followed by an exclusive cocktail party on the shipyard’s private dock.

Fruit of the working relationship between the CRN technical staff and the Zuccon International Project firm, which handled the external layout, “Maraya” is a 5-deck ship built on the same nautical platform as the 54-metre “Ability”, which took to the water two years ago.

At the request of the owner, the interior decoration was handled by the designers of the Claude Missir Agency.

A distinguishing characteristic of this fully custom-built boat is the terrace of the owner’s suit, designed as a full-fledged platform hanging over the sea, by means of a hatch that lowers 90 degrees and can be outfitted with a table and chairs for breakfast.

12 lucky guests can easily be lodged on the “Maraya”, together with a crew of 10. Thanks to its two 3512B Caterpillar engines, the vessel can travel at a cruising speed of 14 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knot, making for a vacation of superlative relaxation and pleasure.
