The largest yacht ever built in Italy and one of the ten largest in the world. The first mega yacht to be built by Fincantieri was delivered a few days ago at Muggiano (La Spezia) shipyard and tomorrow will leave the yard.

At 134 metres long, the MY “Serene”, is one of the ten largest yachts ever built in the world and one of the finest in terms of sophistication and technology. Designed in accordance with the maximum class of international safety regulations for passenger transport the MY “Serene” has seven decks, a hangar and two helicopter landing pads. The vessel also features a large sea-water swimming pool which can accommodate service craft and a submarine with a diving depth of up to 100 metres. There are 4,500 square metres of interior space including 2,700 square metres of super-luxury designed by Pascale Reymond from Reymond Langton Design, one of the most famous designers in the industry.
Fincantieri Yachts team developed the project from the ground-breaking concept design of Espen Oeino, who created some of the world’s most famous yachts. The MY “Serene” marks Fincantieri’s entrance into an exclusive market sector, made possible thanks to the expertise the company has gained in the construction of sophisticated, highly innovative vessels combining cutting edge design and state of the art technology.

Fincantieri has devoted increasingly substantial resources to this market in order to offer customers ever higher levels of quality, design and style. Through Fincantieri Yachts and the construction of the MY “Serene” the company can now boast specific know-how on which it will be possible to draw for the next yachts it builds.
Commenting on the event Fincantieri’s CEO, Giuseppe Bono, said: “In setting out to diversify our activities to the maximum and be present in every business sector, we entered - for us - a totally new sector ready to learn and we have shown that we are able to satisfy the wish-list of even the most demanding customer, building the cutting edge yachts the market demands”.
Fincantieri, whose history spans over 200 years and 7,000 vessels built, with its network of 13 shipyards, 2 design centres, 1 ship research centre and a staff of approximately 10,000, is one of the largest, most experienced and diversified shipbuilders in the world, world leader in the cruise and large ferries sector and world-wide competitor in the naval market, offering a diversified range of vessels including surface ships and submarines.
Fincantieri Yachts is an independent business unit, focused solely on designing and building yachts of over 70 metres. Provided with the complete spectrum of skills needed to develop and deliver first-class luxury yachts, the shipyard is based in the Muggiano, near La Spezia. With a workforce of 750, including hundreds of skilled craftsmen, a dedicated Yacht Design Department and a Project Management organization, Muggiano has 60,000 square metres of covered space, essential for achieving a truly “yacht finish”, and a global reputation for excellence in high-tech, high-quality and high-performance vessels. The company recently invested in specialized new machinery, facilities and technology to make the yard an absolutely perfect environment for creating ocean-going masterpieces.
