Fr. Schweers Shipyard

     Our shipyard is the worldwide market-leader as regards building search and rescue vessels. These vessels are between 20-44 metres long, have a speed up to 30 knots and are made of aluminium. They are purpose-built according to special safety considerations for service in extreme sea and weather conditions. They have double shell plating, are self-righting with an automatic stern slipway, on which a daughterboat can be picked up or launched within a matter of seconds. Extremely careful planning and production are vital here where it is a matter of live and death at sea. We face up to our responsibilities.

     Schweers Shipyard is well-kown all over the world for its newbuildings. They are all light, fast and extremly stable. Many are made entirley of aluminium - such as search and rescue vessels, patrol boats for the customs, the harbour and river police, fisheries protection and coast guard vessels. But ferries or water injection vessels made of steel and aluminium are also our specialities as well as luxury ships, the megayachts.

     The name of the Fr.Schweers Shipyard has epitomized reliability and high quality all over the world for over 160 years now. The company, which was founded in 1836, is one of the most long-- established shipyards in Germany and has built to date over 6500 ships and boats. The shipyard is located on the West bank of the River Weser to the North of the town Bremen and to this day is still owned by the family. Boats of up to 65 metres long and with the most various specifications are designed, developed and built for german and foreign customers. This requires a very high level of design experience as well as a very high level of building quality because some of the ships we have built at our shipyard have crossed the oceans from the Arctic to the South Pacific. The simple fact that many of our customers have returned to us time after time with new orders for ships is proof of customer satisfaction as weIl as of the high quality of our products guaranteed by the right combination of research, technology and craftsmanship.

     The experience and the know-how of our workforce guarantee optimal solutions to the complex requirements arising from the job of building an up-to-date special ship. We arrange for flexible handling of the order, unbureaucratic cooperation and speedy decision-making. This is all possible because all the relevant sections are located on a single site: the administration, the design and construction office, the departments for shipbuilding, mechanical and electrical engineering as well as the painter's and joiner's workshops are on our premises.
