This new addition to the Ocean Series line from Bray Yacht Design And Research Ltd. is a 95 ft. long-range motoryacht designed for a client with a family of four boys. It is planned as an ocean-going home for an extensive cruise around the world. The vessel will have a 12-knot top speed with a 10-knot cruising speed, a 5500-mile range, and will be built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.

The semi-displacement hull is a development of Pat Bray’s award-winning super fuel-efficient hull form, which will burn a gallon of fuel per mile at 9 knots open-ocean cruising. The fixed/active stabilizers, twin screws protected by large shaft skegs, and bulbous bow are a part of that development work and produce a very stable, comfortable ride. A bi-foil under each prop provides passive trim control and reduces pitching even further. Propulsion is by two 6081 John Deere diesels driving 48” props, and electrical power is from twin 38 kW gensets.

Arriving on board, stepping onto the spacious swim platform and going up the curved stairway on the starboard side, you pass by the al fresco dining area, to enter the main salon by the double doors off the aft deck, or through the starboard side doors via the entrance hall. The elegantly appointed salon leads forward to the formal dining room, with its spectacular views from the large feature windows. Opening off the dining room is the huge galley, with separate prep and plating counters along with plenty of cooking space. A doorway on the port side gives easy access for provisioning the vessel. The galley includes a family-style dinette area, and flat-screen TV. Moving out of the galley, the day head is easily accessible off the entrance hall, which then leads forward to the privacy of the full-beam Owner’s stateroom. The rectangular feature windows are repeated in this luxurious retreat, with its walk-in closet and deluxe head.

From the main entrance hall, you can take the curved stairway down to the lower guest accomodations amidships, with its four large guest staterooms - two kid’s cabins each with two single bunks, a queen stateroom, and a VIP king stateroom. Each is fitted with their own full head as well as an entertainment centre. Alternatively, you can head up the staircase, which leads into the sports lounge on the bridge deck. This comfortable lounge is fitted with panoramic seating, large-screen TV, and surround-sound system for relaxed movie nights. Aft, the large deck has plenty of room for a 22 ft. sportfishing boat with launch davit, as well a jetski or two. Moving forward from the lounge, there is also an Owner’s office with fold-down queen berth, and also a full head. Forward of this is the wheelhouse, with two helm chairs, a bench seat with a table, navigation desk, and an extensive “glass bridge”.

Leading down from the bridge beside the helm is the stairway to the Captain’s cabin and head on the main deck forward. Following the stairway down to the lower deck leads to the crew cabin, crew head, and lounge, and access to the main laundry facilities. A service door aft leads to the guest accomodations.

A separate stairway off the main deck provides access to the lower deck aft, where you find the well-planned engine room, and the lazarrette with large walk-in freezers. There is also a lazarrette access off the swim platform, so that swimming and diving accessories are close at hand. A door from the swim platform gives easy access to a convenient swimmer’s WC.

Moving up the outside stairway from the bridge deck aft brings you to the flybridge, with a satellite helm station, bench seat, dining table, barbeque, and of course lots of open space for relaxation and enjoying the view. There is even room for a 12’ RIB which is launched by the bridge deck davit. If you are adventurous, climb up the vertical ladder to the crow’s nest. This vantage point is perfect for spotting shallows, reefs, and whales.

Midship boarding gates port and starboard, and the aft passerelle provide access to the dockside at a higher level than the swim platform, for ease in boarding or departing the vessel.

Additional vessels can be built to order based on the standard hull and machinery package. Many variations on interior layout can be accommodated within the structural framework to customize the yacht for your needs.
