Leading Dutch yacht builder Van Dam Nordia reveals the concept for their latest offspring and flagship, the 120’Nordia Performance Cruiser, an evolution of the new 70’ Nordia Performance Cruiser.
Leading Dutch yacht builder Van Dam Nordia reveals the concept for their latest offspring and flagship, the 120’Nordia Performance Cruiser, an evolution of the new 70’ Nordia Performance Cruiser.
Since the 70’ Nordia Performance cruiser has become an instant success, with the first yacht being fitted out and the second hull under construction, Nordia Design decided to incorporate the gathered knowledge into a new Nordia flagship. The 120’ Nordia Performance Cruiser has become one of the most advanced aluminium performance sailing yachts, offering a combination of the lightness and rigidity of high end composites with the safety and durability of aluminium.
The main design target for the 120’ was to create a true performance yacht without compromising interior space and luxury on-board. Naval Architect Robert Van Dam and designer Robin Ten Hoope managed to keep the weight down to a remarkable 123 tons (light ship) by rethinking modern construction methods and using the latest materials. Every aspect and detail of the yacht has been closely examined on its function and impact on the overall weight, resulting in a light, exciting and durable yacht.
Nordia’s “go anywhere” character is ensured by the fairly shallow draft of just 3.5 meters, allowing the yacht to be sailed in a wide variety of sailing areas. The base concept is developed to accommodate an optional lifting keel and a PBO standing rigging. An option especially designed for owners that want to take their abilities to the limit.
