On Wednesday Peter Wilson watched the 84’ Langan designed Angel being launched by Yachting Developments in Hobsonville. She then motored down the harbour to have the mast stepped before returning to the dock at the yard for final tweaking. She has been 18 months in the making, and Wednesday marked a significant project milestone.

No sooner had Peter watched Angel come to life when on Thursday, Alloy Yachts slipped Red Dragon into the waterway in front of the yard and two tugs carefully shepherded her down the channel to Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour. Next week, her mast will be stepped and sails hoisted for the first time. At completion this will have been a 24 month construction process that Peter and the team at MCM have nurtured since inception on the drawing boards of Dubois Naval Architects back in 2005. 

From now until February, the finishing touches of each yacht will be thoroughly checked by Peter and the yards' teams. Both yachts will undergo sailing, motoring and anchoring trials over the coming weeks, to ensure that all the systems are running perfectly before the key is ready to be handed over to the proud owners.
