The name says it all! The newest SABDES concept comes in the form of a striking 70 metre (230') Megayacht that has no qualms about making its presence known the world over. It is proposed with sports car red livery, speeds of 25+ knots, and accomodation for up to 12 exclusive guests.

Other features include stowage for a 3-person mini-submarine, a helicopter landing pad, lap and spa pools, scuba diving facilities, a ‘float-in-dock’ for the Guest Tender, an observation deck and sea-level gymnasium.

Based on an earlier (2002) SABDES design, the new 70 metre is suitable for use as both a private MegaYacht or in a Share-Owner capacity. A third scenario sees a series of 6 yachts built for operation in the form of club membership with the vessels operating simultaneously, each in a different region of the world.

The new design has been externally styled by Industrial Designer Scott Blee, a 'Yacht' designer also involved in new Naval Ship concepts. The 70 metre shares some of the hallmarks of its predecessor. Both have a distinctive sheer line with expansive sweeping windows, and a large low window extending along the aft quarter of the hull. Such hull windows, set low near the water, are not normally seen in yacht design; Blee, however, is challenging the norm. In order to meet safety regulations for damage stability, the hull is essentially designed like that of a Sportsfisherman. In place of the usual fishing cockpit, Port and Starboard compartments glass-in the main Structural Hull, which encompasses the float-in Tender Garage. The 'float-in-garage', proposed earlier on the 2002 70 metre design, is now a proven feature on a number of Megayachts.

Another innovative feature of this design is the transom. Extending behind the transom are 2 pods on either side, connected by the underwater hull. This allows for a platform that can raise above or below the water, for ease of launching and 'beaching' jet-skis and other toys. It also enables the vessel to continue cruising whilst the 'dock' is flooded, with the stern wake breaking well behind the vessel. The float-in-dock provides tremendous flexibility for launching all manner of vessels and hosting leisure activities. Blee pays homage to classic 50’s powerboats in the use of 2-tone colour on the transom, and polished stainless steel hinges on the door. Vast amounts of 'wood' run along the aft quarter of the hull, sweeping forward up the sheer to become an integrated bulwark and handrail. The 'wood', being a composite lookalike, requires no upkeep.

SABDES have created a contemporary minimalist style for their new 70 metre design. Sweeping blades seperate deck levels, and full height glass offers spectacular views, allowing natural light to penetrate into the heart of all public spaces on the yacht. Expansive glazing has been incorporated to maximise ocean views along the entire length of the yacht. A two and a half storey atrium forms the central space, horizontally interlinking all primary formal and informal areas, whilst a dramatic curved 'Grand Stair' forms a major feature vertically connecting all levels. The yacht has been designed to provide a great degree of flexibility with large open-plan areas that are multi-divisible into smaller more intimate or formal spaces, as required. The yacht has a very distinctive and clear hierarchy of zoned public and private spaces. The extensive owner's suite of rooms has its own deck consisting of Master Stateroom, en-suites, dressing rooms, office and library.

The 70 metre is a new style of yacht that perfectly balances pleasure, leisure, business and exploration activities.
