Moreover she sailed on Sunday 22nd January for her first sea trial, off Punta Bianca (between the Gulf of La Spezia and the mouth of the Magra river) with NE 18-20 kn wind.

Designed by Perini Navi naval architects in consultation with Ron Holland, Rosehearty is built entirely in aluminium, to optimise her displacement to 486 tonnes and to assure speed with uncompromised comfort. Stability and windward performance are enhanced by a deep ballasted keel set within a shoal ballasted fixed keel. Both masts, main and mizzen, (respectively 58,80m and 48,26m tall) are aluminium and her furling booms are both Carbon, providing a total upwind sail area of 1.560 sq.m.

The third 56m of the 56-m series, Rosehearty introduces an important innovation concerning the sail plan. She is in fact the first of the Perini fleet to have carbon booms entirely built by Perini Navi: carbon fibre in-boom furling laminated with SPRINT under vacuum, with custom electric engine equipped with encoder and drives. Constructed and engineered by the Perini Navi Mast Department in their brand new, on-site Carbon-fibre tunnel, vacuum pumps and oven for the carbon-fibre cooking.

The sea trial confirmed the VPPs foreseen by the towing tank data, related to a heeling angle of 15 degrees. Rosehearty proved to be up the performance of her sister ships, Burrasca and Santa Maria, both of which reached speeds of 16 knots in true winds speeds of 30 knots during the Perini Navi Cup 2004, off Porto Rotondo.
