The Perini Navi Group launches SY Panthalassa: the 8th sailing yacht in their 56 meter series
A fusion of contemporary living and the finest nautical heritage, Panthalassa launches this autumn from the renowned Perini Navi yard. Designed in exquisite detail by Foster + Partners, Panthalassa is ideally equipped for worldwide cruising. The culmination of an owner’s dream, she reflects a creative synthesis between the Perini yard, Foster + Partners and the build broker CNI’s mark hilpern.
Viareggio, Saturday, November 14th, 2009 the perini navi group, world Leader in the construction of luxury sailing and motor yachts, is pleased to announce the launching of 56 meter ketch SY Panthalassa, the 47th unit in the fleet and number eight of the series.
From the naval architecture and engineering to the interior space planning, Panthalassa combines 21st century innovation together with intelligent design.
The upper deck features large sunpads and comfortable seating areas, including an informal dining area. Unique skylights admit natural light into the yachts interior, further enhanced by the raised feature skylight which doubles up as a table. Led lighting is set within the glass, creating dramatic mood lighting at night — throughout the yacht.
The original design brief calling for a seamless relationship between the exterior and interior areas has been surpassed. Natural daylight suffuses Panthalassa’s interior through the unique oversized portholes and skylights.
From her aft deck dining area through glass double doors to her main saloon, board room, and wheel house, the view is continuous.
The clean lines and uncluttered style of her interior offers contemporary living. At its centre the gracefully flowing stairwell is wrapped in a translucent acrylic enclosure allowing natural light to flow through the main saloon.
The mix of warm off-white and natural organic tones in the colour palette, combined with the use of natural materials throughout, from her teak flooring to the saddle leather panels on her walls to the granite surfaces, give her interior a tactile and warm ambience.
Flexible, multi-functional spaces offer a host of well-conceived opportunities for social interaction or intimate gatherings. The dining table can become a coffee table, the library is positioned with views over the open waters, the boardroom (with video conferencing facilities) can be transformed into a dining area, and the sweeping sofa in the saloon becomes a bar.
With partitioning via the electric glazed screens, the entire main saloon, dining areas, and wheel house can be divided or unified into one large living space.
Panthalassa boasts the latest, state-of-the-art navigation and communications systems. Along with video conferencing facilities, she has a kaleidoscope entertainment system throughout. On the leisure side, she carries an impressive array of water toys, including expedition rib, 6.2m custom built high speed tenders, wave runners, sea bobs, kite and windsurfing equipment, water-skis, diving equipment, and an inflatable swimming pool.
Panthalassa is also equipped with the latest medical remote diagnosis supported by 24 hour medical backup.
Panthalassa is the only Perini of her size to offer a six cabin layout. Two of her six similarly proportioned double cabins can be converted to twin cabins. The interior’s are dressed with leather panelling and silk rugs, together with dramatic gold and black marble walls throughout the ensuite bathrooms.
Panthalassa is the eighth 56m sailing yacht launched by Perini Navi. The first 56m, Burrasca, was launched in 2003, and was then followed by Santa Maria (now Zenji), Rosehearty, Selene, Salute Silvana and Riela. In the next years another 2 units will be built in this same series, with similar naval architecture and fully customized interiors. Besides the 56m series, Perini Navi’s production plan 2009-2013 will include two 45m steel sailing yachts; the second of the very successful 38m performance sailing yacht series constructed in Sealium, an aluminium alloy; one 59m sailing yacht and three motor yachts: a 50m, 55m and a 73 meter in the new Vitruvius series, a project that will re-launch the Picchiotti historical brand in the world of luxury yachting. In total 7 sailing yachts and 3 motor yachts.
