New ginton naval architects 40m superyacht project

Ginton Naval Architects in Holland has received an order for the design of a 40 meter Motor Yacht. The design concept is based on the succesfull M/Y Metsuyan IV and she will also be built at CBI Navi, part of Fipa Group, in Italy.

She has a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, 2 Caterpillar C32 engines, 850 hp each, ZF 4:1 gearboxes and Caterpillar C4.4 generators.

The yacht has been designed to be exceptionally quiet. The design of the propellor, the mountings for shaft and engine and the exhaust system have received a lot of attention. The exhaust system for example is a specially designed scoop below the waterline. This greatly reduces exhaust noise and results in far less exhaust gases around the boat.

As is normal on Ginton Naval Architects displacement yachts, this yacht will also be fitted with a bulbous bow. This reduces resistance and pitch movement in head seas. Low resistance and fuel consumption and the tremendous fuel capacity (56000 l.) give a range of 4200 nautical miles.

She will have all the beauty of a true yacht, but with the sailing abilities of a true ship.

The yard has started building and she will be ready for the season of 2010.
